What the MTP Group Gold Medal is
The Gold Medal is an award given by the MTP Group — the organiser of the Poznań International Fair — to products entered by trade fair exhibitors. At DREMA 2026, the International Fair of Machines, Tools and Components for the Wood and Furniture Industry, four products received the medal:
- ProNest machining centre — SERON,
- NEXCUT X99 nesting router bit — ITA TOOLS,
- 3DeCon product configurator — DPS Software,
- ISKRA RX PRO set — K&K Katarzyna Brzezińska.
Entries were assessed by a competition jury chaired by Prof. Jerzy Smardzewski of the Poznań University of Life Sciences. The X99 was the only cutting tool among the winners — the kind of tool every nesting shop runs in its machine every day.
Why the NEXCUT X99 won
According to the winners' description, the bit combines four features:
- Dual Cut® cutting-edge geometry — designed to give a clean finish on both the top and bottom edge of the board.
- Multiplied negative cutting edges and a unique edge layout — for finish quality and effective chip evacuation.
- Longer tool life — a result of the geometry and the way the chips are cleared.
- Platinum® coating — reduces material build-up and protects the cutting edge from high temperature.
What it means on a nesting table
When nesting melamine-faced board, you have to protect two faces at once: the top decorative layer and the bottom face sitting on the spoilboard. A compression bit handles this with opposing helix directions — some edges pull the chips down, others push them up — so both faces are pressed towards the core of the board instead of being torn outwards. We explain the principle in What Is a Compression Router Bit and When Should You Use One? and the causes of chipping in Panel Nesting with Melamine Chipboard: How to Avoid Chipping on Both Faces.
The X99 series is a solid carbide compression bit with a Z2+6 edge arrangement and Platinum coating, made for nesting — exactly this job.

From the DREMA 2026 fair

In an interview recorded at the fair by the MTP Group, Artur Pastuszak of ITA TOOLS talked about the award-winning bit. As he explained, the NEXCUT X99 was developed by ITA's engineers in Mielec as a compression bit for efficient nesting of chipboard:
Full interview transcript — Artur Pastuszak, ITA TOOLS (English translation)
At this year's DREMA fair we are presenting a solid carbide solution — the X99 NexCut router bit. It is a compression bit we use for efficient nesting work with chipboard. It is an innovative solution developed by our engineers in Mielec, and we offer it to our customers as a forward-looking tool that lets them get the most out of this type of nesting work.
It features a special 2+6 cutting-edge arrangement, which makes chip evacuation easier, improves circulation, and it doesn't heat up during work. These are compression bits with Platinum coating — the newest solution we are presenting to our partners. The bits offer very long tool life and very efficient cutting. We can run at feed rates of around 20–25 metres per minute, so comparable with diamond tools.
This is the wood industry's big event. It is the key fair for the wood-industry segment, and we always take part with pleasure. It is always a celebration of this industry; among European fairs, it is the key fair in Poland. So, as a company that is a leader and has these solutions ready for the wood industry, we always want to take part — as a bigger team, with a large stand, many solutions and new products that help our customers and partners work more efficiently and productively.
Our product portfolio covers the full range that customers in the wood industry can use: from cutting and routing, to specialist machining, to new solutions such as composite materials. So I really encourage you to visit our stand, because — from tool holding, through pre-cutting, to specialist cutting on production lines — we can offer a solution to every customer.
