Privacy Policy

In Short: If you review a product, we publish the name you choose, your rating and your review. After we dispatch an order, we may email you once to ask for a review. If you have accepted advertising cookies, Google may invite you to its own survey after an online order.

Product reviews

You can review products on our product pages. When you do, we collect the name you enter (a first name or initials is fine), your star rating, the title and text of your review, the date and the IP address of the connection you used. If you use the personal link in our review request email, we also link your review to your order number so that we can show the 'Verified purchase' badge. The review form does not ask for your email address.

We use this information to publish your review, to check that a 'Verified purchase' review comes from a genuine order, and to prevent spam, fake reviews and other abuse (for example, by limiting how many reviews can be sent from one connection in a day). Your review is shown with the name you entered, your rating, the title, text and date and, where applicable, the 'Verified purchase' badge. We never publish your email address, IP address or order number. We rely on our legitimate interests in publishing genuine customer feedback about our products and in protecting our website from abuse. Writing a review is optional.

A published review stays on the product page for as long as we show that product, or until you ask us to remove it; this is an exception to the general period described in 'HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?'. We delete the IP address 12 months after the review is submitted, and we delete reviews that we decide not to publish after the same period.

You can ask us at any time to remove your review or to change the name shown with it by emailing office@smarterproduction.co.uk. Your other rights are described in 'WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?'. Review request emails

After we dispatch an order, we may send one email to the email address we hold for that order, asking for an honest review of the products in it. The first time we contact an email address or company in this way, the email may also include a link to review Smarter Production on Google (after that, no more than once every 2 years); a review you write there is published by Google under its own terms and privacy policy. We send the request once, usually 10 to 21 days after we dispatch the last part of the order, with no reminders, and we send no more than one review request every 60 days to the same email address or company. The email may use your name, your order number and the names and pictures of the products you bought.

We send these emails on the basis of our legitimate interests in getting honest feedback from genuine customers about products they bought from us. Every review request contains a link to stop review requests and supports one-click unsubscribe in email apps that offer it; you can also reply to the email or write to office@smarterproduction.co.uk. If you have unsubscribed from our newsletter or from our basket reminder emails, we do not send you review requests either.

We keep a record of each request (email address, the name used in the greeting, order number, products and dates) to apply these limits and to recognise 'Verified purchase' reviews, and we delete it after 2 years. If you ask us to stop, we keep your email address on a 'do not contact' list so that we can keep respecting your choice; this is an exception to the general period described in 'HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?'.

Google Customer Reviews

We take part in Google Customer Reviews, a programme run by Google LLC ('Google'). If you have accepted advertising cookies, the order confirmation page shown after an online order may display an invitation from Google to receive a short survey about your purchase. To display the invitation, our page passes to Google your email address, your order number, the delivery country and the estimated delivery date. Google emails you the survey after the estimated delivery date only if you agree in Google's invitation; if you do not agree, Google does not send it. Google may publish your rating and comments as reviews of our shop under its own rules.

Google receives and uses this information as an independent controller, in accordance with its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. In connection with the Google Customer Reviews programme, Google and other third parties may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons or similar technologies, to collect information, and Google may receive information about transactions made on our website. Google may process this information in the United States. We rely on our legitimate interests in collecting independent customer ratings, and we show the invitation only if you have accepted advertising cookies.
